KARA Cafe & Dessert Bar
Back in middle school, KARA Cafe & Dessert Bar was one of my go-to hangout spots. My friends and I would head there after class for frozen yogurt and mochi waffles, and it always felt like the perfect little escape. Over time, though, I kind of forgot about it—it slipped off my radar as new places opened up.
But when Yo-Chi landed in Singapore this year and started making waves, it reminded me of KARA. So I went back, and honestly, it still hits just as well as it used to. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, with warm lighting and enough space to either settle in with your laptop or just chat over dessert. You’ll find grain bowls, toasties, salads, and of course, their signature mochi waffles topped with frozen yogurt. Most of the savory dishes sit in the $12–$18 range, while desserts and froyo are usually around $6–$10, so it’s not too hard on the wallet for a casual meal or sweet treat.
My favorite part is that you can make it whatever you want it to be—sometimes I go just for dessert, other times I grab a full meal. It’s a spot that works for both.
If I had to give one piece of advice, it would be for KARA to really highlight what makes them special. When Yo-Chi came in, the buzz was all about choice, toppings, and fun builds. KARA has its own strengths: healthier meals, unique froyo flavors, and that cozy sit-down vibe you can’t really get at self-serve chains. Promoting those aspects a bit more—through seasonal flavors, health-focused marketing, or even more photos online—could keep them standing out in Singapore’s dessert scene.
All that aside, KARA still feels like a hidden gem to me. If you love frozen yogurt or just want a cozy café that serves both sweet and savory, it’s worth heading back to. For me, it’s a place full of memories that still deserves a spot on my list of favorites.
