Rough Beauty – Local Soap Brand You Should Check Out
Sometimes it’s the small things that make the biggest difference in your daily routine. I was scrolling online looking for something simple but meaningful to add into mine, and that’s when I came across Rough Beauty, a Singapore-based brand that makes handmade botanical soaps.
I decided to try out a few bars, and honestly, they’ve been such a nice little upgrade. The scents are light and natural—not overpowering like some store-bought soaps—and they actually feel really gentle on the skin. Using them makes something as ordinary as washing your hands or showering feel just a bit more pleasent. They’re also surprisingly great as gifts. Soap might seem like a small thing, but when it’s handmade with care and wrapped in simple, minimal packaging, it feels personal and thoughtful. And the price makes it even better—most bars are around $11, which is really affordable for something handcrafted and that lasts a long time.
One thing I noticed, though, is that Rough Beauty doesn’t have much visibility outside of their own site. I only found them because I was digging around online, but I feel like if they put a bit more focus on getting their name out there—whether through social media, local pop-ups, or collaborations—they’d really catch on. With more people leaning toward sustainable and handmade products these days, this is the kind of brand that could grow fast if more people knew about it.
For now, though, I kind of love that it feels like a hidden gem. It’s local, thoughtful, and something that makes everyday life a little nicer.
