One Holland Village: The Spot I Didn’t Realize I’d Miss So Much

Now that I’m out of the country for summer break, I’ve been missing One Holland Village a lot more than I thought I would. Back when I was still in Singapore, I was there all the time—studying after school, grabbing dinner with friends, picking up groceries, or just hanging around for a bit of fresh air. It slowly became part of my weekly routine without me really noticing.

One of the best things about it is the vibe. Unlike most malls in Singapore, One Holland Village is mostly outdoors. It’s open and breezy, and even when there are a lot of people, it doesn’t feel too crowded or stuffy. That’s something I really liked—it gave me space to breathe. I’d often grab a coffee, sit outside with my laptop or a book, and just enjoy the atmosphere. It’s peaceful enough for studying or getting some work done, but still has enough energy around you so it doesn’t feel boring or too quiet.

The pet-friendly vibe is also a big plus. You always see people walking their dogs, sitting outside cafés with them, or just hanging around in the open s
paces. It makes the whole place feel more relaxed and welcoming, like a little neighborhood where everyone’s just doing their own thing.

Another thing that really stood out was how well it was marketed. As soon as One Holland Village opened, it became a popular hangout spot. I saw it on social media all the time—people posting about the new cafés, restaurants, or just the cool look of the place. I think the team behind it did a great job making it known from the start. It didn’t feel like one of those places that take months to catch on. Everyone was talking about it and checking it out right away.

Now that I’m away, I’ve realized how much I miss having a place like that around. It’s more than just a shopping area—it’s somewhere you can really spend the whole day. You can study, eat, relax, run errands, or just meet up with people. It’s a space that’s useful and enjoyable at the same time, and that’s kind of hard to find.

If you haven’t been yet, One Holland Village is definitely a hidden gem. It’s not loud or flashy, but that’s what makes it special. Whether you’re there to chill, hang out with friends, or just get some things done, it’s the kind of place that makes you want to come back.
